Why KE8YGW Logger exists
Built by an amateur radio operator who wanted a logging platform that treats the log itself as the thing worth getting right — local-first, tamper-evident, and extensible from the ground up.
The project
KE8YGW Logger started from a simple frustration: most logging software treats the log as an implementation detail, bolting on sync, multi-operator support, and integrations as afterthoughts. This project inverts that — the event log is the foundation, and everything else (the GUI, the terminal client, sync, plugins) is built on top of it.
That means an append-only, hash-chained log where nothing is silently rewritten or deleted; a proposal-based write model so plugins — and AI-assisted logging — can never bypass review and mutate the official record directly; and a plugin architecture so the platform can grow to cover casual logging, POTA/SOTA, club and event logging, net control, emergency communications, and contesting without compromising the core.
The callsign
KE8YGW is the amateur radio callsign of the project's creator, Austin Hadley — the name the platform is built and released under.
Maker & company
